Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in connection with proposals for the construction of 107 new dwellings. All the available evidence indicated that the site had a low archaeological potential for all past periods of human activity. The site was undeveloped agricultural land until the early 20th century. The site was developed as a hospital during the 20th century inter-war period. Analysis of historic maps indicated that the hospital buildings had changed configuration on a number of occasions, and were likely to have caused significant post-depositional impacts. On the basis of the available evidence, it was considered unlikely that the proposed development would have had any significant archaeological impact. [Au(adp)] |
