Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken to identify the nature, date and state of preservation of any archaeological remains that would be adversely affected by gravel extraction. Cropmarks were known in the area, one of which appeared to extend into the development area. No evidence of it was found during the investigation. A pit or possible ditch terminal, of probable medieval date, and the remains of a Late Bronze Age jar, which may have been set into the ground, were discovered. Prehistoric and medieval pottery, and burnt and worked flint were recovered but in no great quantities. [AIP] |
