Abstract: |
The assessment identified through documentary evidence that the former mill on this site dated from at least the 17th century, although it may have had older medieval origins. Surviving structural remains on site included those either obscured by vegetation, or having foundations below ground. These were most likely to have been of post-medieval or later date. However, it was possible that medieval material may also have been preserved. The main archaeological interest in the site centred around the potential for palaeoenvironmental material preserved within, or by, the alluvium. [Au(abr)] |
