Abstract: |
The buildings of the former Rampgill mine workshops, Nenthead formed part of the Nenthead Lead Mines Scheduled Ancient Monument. They were recorded in 1994 during conversion by the North Pennines Heritage Trust. A watching brief was undertaken on an area in the West Yard of the workshop compound where foundation trenches for a new cafe were being excavated. The trench revealed a sequence of archaeological deposits, which were recorded in section; they included at least one building wall. [Au] |
