Abstract: |
<summary>A small evaluation excavation took place following an earlier desk-based assessment concerning the archaeological potential of the Totnes Southern Area Access Road. The site was located in a car park where the new road would cross Leechwell Street. The purpose of the excavation was to establish whether any significant archaeological deposits were preserved in the area. The footing of a building which may date to the 16th or 17th century was revealed, along with a pit containing 11th and 12th century pottery fragments. It was determined that only a watching brief would be necessary during road construction. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
