Abstract: |
Trench 1 of the evaluation confirmed the presence of at least one cellar beneath the former property of No. 94 West Street and that the eastern wall of this property was at least later 17th century in origin. Within the area of Trench 2, a naturally formed buried soil horizon of probable medieval date was heavily truncated in the later 17th century by the digging of a well and the construction of an insubstantial structure of uncertain purpose. By the later 18th century outbuildings were constructed to the rear of the street frontage. [Au(abr)] |
