Abstract: |
A small-scale excavation was undertaken in an area of Heath Old Hall which was to be landscaped. This was seen as an excellent opportunity for an educational project for a group of G.C.S.E. students. The excavation took place in the former dairy at the north-west corner of the remaining structure. The aim of the excavation was to establish the original ground floor level and to elucidate the problem of a possible door in the west wall. No floor level was reached and subsequent documentary work indicated that, contrary to the original information learned by the archaeologists, a cellar was present in this part of the building. The archway in the west wall allowed access between two parts of the cellar. [Au(adp] |
