Abstract: |
An assessment was carried out on the proposed development area. A single Neolithic stone axe had been found in the study area but no other prehistoric archaeology has been found on the site. The area around the site was densely populated with Roman archaeology, including a Roman Villa and farmsteads. This suggested there was a potential for Roman archaeology to be found on the site. During the medieval period a bishop's palace and park was established at Stow, part of the associated moat and fishponds were present on the site. By the end of the post-medieval period the park had been broken up and split into three farms. [Au(abr)] |
