Abstract: |
A watching brief was held over works to construct a temporary building and a car park. No evidence for activity prior to the establishment of formal gardens during the 18th century was recorded. No signs of the medieval palace of the Bishops of Bath and Wells believed to have been located in the vicinity, were found during the watching brief or earlier evaluation. However, elements of the 18th century and later formal gardens were well preserved. [Au(abr)] |
