Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that the greatest archaeological potential within the densely exploited study area was for Roman deposits or features, and prehistoric evidence. Scattered finds of prehistoric artefacts in the Lea flood plain and on the gravels raised the possibility of prehistoric remains on site, notwithstanding their subsequent destruction or disturbance by Roman, medieval and recent activity.
