Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken during the first phase of pipeline works. Much of the ground being excavated, particularly where the pipeline route cut through present roads had already been disturbed by former services. In the few areas where undisturbed deposits were encountered, the recovery of modern pottery sherds or other material indicated that they represented fairly recent activity. The pipe-trench was not observed to truncate any medieval or earlier deposits or features. [Au(adp)] |
