Abstract: |
An archaeological monitoring brief was undertaken during the construction of five houses and associated services. Sixteen trenches were monitored and recorded across the site, during nine visits. The subsequent investigation of the trenches revealed archaeological features in all trenches, although many were only partially visible. A large boundary ditch was recorded running northwest-southeast, along with a number of smaller ditches which would have formed smaller property boundaries in the medieval period. In addition a number of horticultural beds or terracing was also observed. Notably no remains of Monastic origin were observed. These findings confirmed the results of the evaluation, which had also identified these and other remains. [Au(abr)] |
