Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was carried out and revealed that for the site, the key period would appear to have been the industrial revolution and the early 20th century. The landscape of the site had been created by both agricultural and extractive development of the 18th and 19th centuries (Slough Road) and the development of mass housing, places of worship for the growing population, retail premises and places of work such as cotton mills and iron foundries (Redearth Road).
