Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken prior to the proposed refurbishment of the present buildings to produce apartments. The site was not located within any known ancient settlement, but was adjacent to a medieval road and a former stream course. Because so little was known about the area's archaeology it could only be considered to have background potential, perhaps for occassional low-density activity asociated with medieval and earlier land use, within the former rear garden/yard areas, which did not appear to have been developed previously. Any such shallow and insubstantial evidence within the original made ground/soil profile would be removed by the constructon of the proposed underground car park. [Au(adp)] |
