Abstract: |
Historic building recording and archaeological observation and recording was undertaken in advance of conversions to the old brewhouse. Architectural and construction details placed the brew house in the latter half of the 16th century, though substantial repairs were conducted during the 18th or early 19th century. The assessment supported earlier suggestions that the building comprised the partially truncated remains of a domestic structure. The stable block substantially preserved a modest brick built structure of the latter half of the 19th century, with a few minor alterations. Excavations for new footings revealed the edges of former yards and garden soil. No other archaeological finds, features or deposits were noted. [Au(abr)] |
