Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken in response to a condition upon planning permission for the residential development of the site. Overall the study sites archaeological potential for these periods could be defined as low. There was no evidence to suggest that the medieval or post-medieval settlement at Leigh extended as far as the study site. Map evidence of 18th, 19th and 20th century date indicated that the study site lay in agricultural land until the existing buildings were constructed in the second half of the 20th century.
