Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of geotechnical test pits. Excavation revealed a sequence of natural deposits overlain by 16th to 17th century dumps. Although the findings were very limited, they added to the understanding of the relatively natural state of the medieval river frontage which was gradually reclaimed as a result of sustained refuse disposal throughout the later medieval period.
