Abstract: |
A programme of systematic fieldwalking using the National Grid was undertaken on land north of Peacehaven, East Sussex, in March 2004 as part of a larger scheme of archaeological investigation of a site proposed as a new water treatment works. A 10% sample of the site was subjected to artefact collection. Despite poor ground visibility a general lack of archaeological artefacts, concentrations of worked and fire-cracked flint indicated the possible presence of at least two areas of prehistoric activity.
