Abstract: |
<summary>Two evaluation trenches were excavated on the site of proposed housing development which lay adjacent to the Roman "Saxon Shore" fort within the Scheduled area. The truncated remains of features of a {italon}vicus{italoff}, datable to the 2nd to 4th century AD, were shown to survive, comprising ditched trackways, rectilinear enclosures, post holes and gullies. Large quantities of pottery and animal bone were also recovered. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
