Abstract: |
A desk based study was undertaken for two seperate plots of land proposed for development. The plot of land on Moorbridge Lane was identified as containing a poorly defined crop- and soilmark site comprising former field boundaries shown on the 1842 Tithe Map and 1891 6" Ordnance Survey Map and two linear cropmarks of uncertain origin. No known archaeological sites were identified within the plot of land on Chapel Lane although the field abutted the cropmark complex recorded on the Moorbridge Lane site, lay to the north of a possible Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age henge and was on alluvial deposits which may have sealed archaeological features and/or could contain palaeoenvironmental remains.
