Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed the remains of the former sheaf saw mill in Trench 1 which had been demolished in the early 20th century. Trench 2 indicated survival of back to back dwellings of mid-19th century date in the area. A sondage revealed made ground that sealed 18th century structures. Trench 3 revealed hammer works of the mid to late 19th century which were modified in the 20th century. Trench 4 revealed wall foundations and a culvert of 18th century date. Trench 5 revealed the remains of former mid to late 19th century cutlery works. Trench 6 contained earlier 19th century wall. [Au(adp)] |
