Abstract: |
<summary>An assessment of the potential archaeological remains at Weare Giffard was carried out on behalf of the National Rivers Authority, prior to the commencement of a flood alleviation scheme. The new flood bank would truncate the buried channel of the Rolle canal and disturb the loading ramp from the river to the lime kilns, which were Listed. It was suggested that the site should be disturbed as little as possible and that a watching brief should be carried out during the construction process. There was considered to be further scope for historical research. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
