Abstract: |
The evaluation comprised the machine excavation of 24 trenches measuring 30m x 3m. Excavated features comprised truncated postholes, ditches and natural features cutting natural brickearth. The majority of the features can be dated to the post-medieval period with the exception of the linear in Trench 7. This north-south aligned feature which terminated in the trench, contained abraded sherds of Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age date. The archaeological remains identified in the evaluation are not significant enough to constrain the design of the development. Substantial impacts will be limited to the areas of the new building and further work may be merited to record the extent and nature of these archaeological remains. [Au(abr)] |
