Abstract: |
A small programme of archaeological evaluation was conducted within the nave of the former church of St. Mary Northgate. A Roman rampart survived to a higher level than anticipated. The south wall of the narrower medieval nave was found. The originally lower area to its south had been made up through a combination of dumped deposits and supporting walls when the nave was widened in 1830. [Au(abr)] |
