Abstract: |
The evaluation was carried out prior to the determination of a planning application for the conversion and extension of the warehouse to form residential units. Three trenches were excavated, comprising a 4% sample of the proposed development site. In trenches 1 and 2, substantial post-medieval make-up deposits were interpreted as landscaping, probably contemporary with the laying out of the adjacent park and the rebuilding of the parish church in the 19th century. A single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered from below these deposits in trench 1. In trench 3, a possible cultivated soil and a brick wall foundation, both of post-medieval date, were identified. [Au(abr)] |
