Abstract: |
The historical and cartographic evidence indicated that the site, in 1760, was divided into tenement plots, most likely echoing the layout of the medieval burgage plots that were known to have existed in the area. These long thin plots of land were mainly destroyed by 1884 when two large brewery buildings were constructed, leaving all but the tenements themselves fronting the High Street and Bridge Street.
