| Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of two proposed development sites identified that the presumed route of a Roman road lay c. 300m to the east. No prehistoric finds or other Roman remains had been recorded in the vicinity, and no Saxon settlements were known to have lain in the area. The sites were thought to have lain within open or agricultural land during the medieval and post-medieval periods. However, development of the proposal areas during the 20th century would have had a severe impact on any archaeological remains which may have been present. It was concluded that the proposed development was highly unlikely to have any archaeological impact on the site, and that no further mitigation measures would be necessary. [AIP] |
