Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during development. Early medieval pottery and remains had been recorded in the vicinity, in particular, archaeological features containing Anglo-Saxon and medieval pottery were discovered during previous construction work in the school grounds. The archaeological investigations revealed an undated linear cut of uncertain function. This may have been a naturally formed water channel or a severely eroded boundary or drainage ditch. In addition to the undated linear feature, a post-medieval subsoil was identified, sealed below the modern topsoil. Finds of clay pipe and pottery were recovered from the two later phases of the site. [Au(abr)] |
