Abstract: |
A watching brief during the excavation of service trenches revealed that, with the exception of the remains of a wall in front of the former prison building, any surviving medieval and earlier remains lay at a depth below two metres. Post-medieval structural remains associated with the former Prison, drains, a brick-built sump and burials representing part a debtor's graveyard were revealed along the route of the services trench.
