Abstract: |
The investigations into the castle grounds were instigated because of a proposed development to plant a yew hedge. Two sample trenches were investigated which provided data about previous ground surfaces. 19th and 20th century finds were located in the topsoil while an un-excavated layer was discovered at the bottom of the trial trenches. This layer was thought to be possibly 17th century but was not investigated further as it was thought that it was deep enough to be preserved in situ. [AIP] |
