Abstract: |
Archaeological observation of a series of boreholes revealed only one single possible Roman deposit, in borehole 23. However, a silt deposit in borehole 22 may have filled an ancient buried stream or river. It was thought probable that much had been destroyed by the 19th century gasworks and later activity, although it was possible that islands of archaeology did exist in places. [Au(adp)] |
