Abstract: |
The assessment was carried out in response to proposals for a new residential development. The site lay close to Pontefract Castle on the northern periphery of the medieval town and within the area enclosed by the Civil War siegeworks. It was thought to have the potential to contain material associated with these factors. However, it was thought that modern development may have severely damaged any archaeological remains present.
