Abstract: |
Archaeological assessment of a site at Halvergate indicated the likelihood of evidence of early green-side settlement, of possible late Saxon or early medieval date, and possible evidence for prehistoric or Roman activity in the vicinity. Aerial photographs indicated the possibility that an early east-to-west trackway ran through the development site; the trackway led towards the east to an undated ditched enclosure on the upland margin. The possible archaeological potential of the site was assessed, the way in which the character and extent of any potential evidence might be more effectively determined, and methods of targeting any archaeological sites.
