Abstract: |
Salvage recording during extension works within the Royal Citadel revealed evidence of the previous incarnations of the site. Nineteen casemates were recorded and their change in use over time noted. Parts of the counterscarp wall constructed in 1660 by Bernard de Gomme were revealed. Of other interest was the presence of a 6" BL gun position used for drills in the last war, few of which survive.
