Abstract: |
<summary>A desk-based assessment of land proposed for development off London Road was undertaken. Although archaeological material had been found on the site in the last century, the date and nature of the activity indicated by the material was unknown. Recent activity on the southern half of the site was shown to have probably caused widespread destruction of archaeological deposits, and on the basis of archaeological, historical and topographical evidence it was suggested that the potential for the recovery of significant Saxon or medieval material from the site was low. There was, however, a limited potential for the recovery of prehistoric material. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
