Abstract: |
An archaeological investigation comprising of the excavation of two trenches was undertaken. Despite the potential for archaeological remains, mainly medieval settlement and the town's Civil War defences, no archaeological features were recorded. In was concluded that any archaeological remains within the site had been completely destroyed by modern cellars and by the excavation of foundations for tennis courts and a bowling green which previously occupied this area.
