Abstract: |
<summary>Evaluation trenching, supported by desk-based study, to the north of St John's Street in an area proposed for an extension to County Hall, revealed that occupation commenced on the St John's Street and Angel Street frontages in the 11th/12th century. On St John's Street, stone-founded buildings replaced timber buildings in the 13th century. On Fetter Street, evidence of a timber building phase was discovered, but there was no evidence of a succeeding medieval stone building phase. Evidence of widespread Medieval period quarrying was also uncovered. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
