Abstract: |
A review of the known sources showed that no finds of archaeological significance had been found on the site relating to earlier than the 18th century. Cartographic evidence indicated that archaeological deposits relating to 18th-19th century quayside buildings may have survived, although the extent of modern disturbance was thought to have been severe across the site. However, the site was underlain by thick deposits of alluvium, which might contain buried material of archaeological and palaeoenvironmental significance. [Au(abr)] |
