Abstract: |
The evaluation involved the excavation of two trenches within the area of proposed development. Archaeological features were recorded within both trenches. Trench A, close to the King Street frontage, contained evidence for timber buildings represented by post holes dating to the 10th-11th century. Early medieval and Victorian refuse pits were also recorded. Features in Trench B comprised medieval quarry pits and two shallow pits of probable post-medieval date. This report also included the results of a survey of the building due to be demolished as part of the proposed development which currently occupied the King Street frontage to the site. [Au] |
