Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of 27 trial trenches and two test-pits, was undertaken in respect of a planning application for a proposed housing development. The evaluation identified an area of possible Neolithic activity with the north-west of the site, consisting of shallow ditches and pits. Notable quantities of struck flint were also found within this area. Archaeological activity occurred at a much lower frequency elsewhere across the site and archaeological features were completely absent on the sloping ground to the west of the River Stour.
