Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in relation to the proposed conversion of the existing 5-storey building to residential units. The site did not contain any Listed Buildings or SAMs and did not lie within an Archaeological Priority Area or Conservation Area. The site currently contained two rectangular shaped buildings. There was a smaller square shaped building in the south-eastern area of the site. Documentary, geological, archival and cartographic sources indicated that the site did not lie within an area regarded as having great archaeological potential. Previous development activity such as pits excavated by the brick works and the construction of the buildings would have had some impact on any potential archaeological remains. AOC Archaeology therefore recommended that no further archaeological consideration be given to development of the site. [Au(abr)] |
