Abstract: |
The assessment identified that the site contained no known archaeological sites or finds, but it did lay in a region known to have been occupied in prehistory. There was also ample evidence for dense settlement and agriculture during the medieval period. In the later medieval and post-medieval periods parkland was developed around the existing manors, although Riding Court was an exception to this. The site was however adjacent to the historic boundary of the Ditton Park which was included on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens maintained by English Heritage. The site was also adjacent to Riding Court Farmhouse (17th to 19th centuries) which was a Grade II Listed Building, and other non-domestic farm buildings (18th and 19th centuries). [Au(adp)] |
