Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken near the site of the Civil War Parliamentary outer defensive earthworks linking Holiwell Fort with Lipson Work and the site of the 'Sabbath Days fight', which took place on 3 December 1643 during the third siege of Plymouth whereby Royalist troops were routed by the Parliamentarian defenders. No features relating to the Civil War outworks were observed. A single 17th century lead pistol ball was identified along with other post-medieval artefacts. [AIP] |
