Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the creation and re-establishment of the possible medieval ponds at Rhodes Farm. The evidence, from the watching brief and cartographic sources, appeared to suggest that the features were laid out as decoy for both rearing and trapping ducks. A firm date could not be placed on its formation, but evidence from maps suggested that it was laid out between 1842 and 1876. The three ponds were subsequently created after 1876 but before 1900.
