Abstract: |
Four trial trenches were excavated as an evaluation of the proposed redevelopment site. The site lay within an area of archaeological potential, defined as an Archaeological Priority Area. The subject of the Priority Area was the historic core of the Sheen/Richmond settlement. The natural ground surface on the site had been truncated. An 18th or 19th century red brick wall foundation was recorded which may have been the external wall of one of the houses seen on the 1894 map. Two late post-medieval pits were also excavated. No other significant archaeological remains were revealed. [Au(abr)] |
