Abstract: |
A brief recording exercise was undertaken on the weir, which was exposed after the lowering of the water level to allow the installation of a fish counting mechanism. Woodwork from the construction of the weir survived in situ. This included complete timber sections which because of the waterlogged conditions, had surviving sapwood. There was some evidence for an earlier phase of weir. The wood was suitable for obtaining dendrochronological dates enabling more accurate dating of the weir. [Au(abr)] |
