Abstract: |
An undated layer, probably the agricultural soil of Houndwell Field, overlay the natural brickearth. To the east was a large feature, probably the backfilled late18th/early 19th century Southampton canal. The layer and feature were overlain by layers associated with the early modern/modern park. Elsewhere, other canal backfill deposits, or deposits of uncertain significance, were observed. [Au] |
