Abstract: |
Work on new housing was monitored and archaeological deposits were recorded in a trench to the rear of the site. They included Roman deposits at the base of the sequence, indicative of roadside activity proximal to the Roman road from London to Dover, 18th century corresponding to the functioning of the former roadside inn, The Castle, and 19th century made ground associated with wall foundations.
