Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in repose to a condition upon planning permission for the construction of commercial units on the ground floor and flats on the upper floors. The assessment concluded that there was some potential for prehistoric material to be found, although this could only be described as uncertain. It was unlikely that any other periods of past human activity would have been represented on the site. The site had been redeveloped on at least two occasions since the mid-19th century. The cumulative impact of past development could potentially have had a severe and widespread archaeological impact. On the basis of all the available information, further archaeological mitigation measures were not recommended. [Au(adp)] |
