Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at the north-east corner of the existing landfill site, prior to the construction of new buildings and ponds. The buried soil on the surface of the island was recognised as a darker band of clay, lying above the shattered lias stone bedrock. The only archaeological feature seen during the evaluation was a small, prehistoric, pit feature containing numerous fragments of fired clay. [Au(abr)] |
